LSO x BMW Classics

CLASSICS FOR THE
MASSES

London Symphony Orchestra

BMW & London Symphony Orchestra have collaborated on several concerts and projects, teaming up to take classical music to new audiences, and make it more accessible. Wash were brought on board to create vibrant video content that would mark each event, and share the work they do with young people in schools across East London.

Each year, BMW and London Symphony Orchestra partner for an Open Air Classics concert in Trafalgar Square, supported by the Mayor of London. As well as performances of LSO’s current season, 50 young musicians from across East London are invited to play new music with the main orchestra as part of LSO On Track.

We followed Double Bass player, Matthew Gibson in the run up to the concert. As a bass player, Matthew is rarely in the limelight, so this was a unique opportunity to put him centre stage.

LSO On Track

Jayro Viapree, who played with the LSO On Track youth orchestra in their 2015 concert, spoke with young talent, as they prepared to take to the stage, and follow in her footsteps.

Putting the young people at the heart of our coverage, we heard from them, their parents and the professional musicians on why this LSO concert is so special.
